In 2021 it seems that everyone with an internet connection is starting their own business.
From DIY videos filmed on IPhones to “Influencers” who live their lives in front of a camera, most of these small businesses are doomed to fail.
However the few that survive and continue to grow, belong to those who are willing to work.
That exact work ethic has allowed Lloyd Verduyn to grow a small tarp business into the thriving retractable tarping system manufacturer and commercial truck equipment distributor that is depended on across North America.
In business, it takes quantifiable numbers to represent growth. These milestones represent the sustainability of ones company and the success the business has generated.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane and visit these milestones that we have continued to celebrate and achieve:
May 1st 1986:
Lloyd Verduyn establishes Verduyn Tarps as a business. His Unique style of tarp that includes D-Rings for versatile tie downs and effective reinforcements, begins to garner attention from Flatbed Drivers.
2000:
After renovating his shop on Lake Avenue in Hamilton Ontario, Lloyd’s business outgrows the one bay facility it called home. With expansion on the horizon Lloyd purchased a three bay shop at 398 Kenora Ave in Hamilton Ontario. Fast forward to the present and this shop continues to run today.
2005-2006:
Lloyd took his product across the border and purchased, renovated and opened his second facility in Detroit.
2015-16:
With a decade of success in the United States, Lloyd looked to replicate his “Steel town” success south of the border. Going back to his roots he found himself a steel corridor in Gary Indiana and opened a second American location with his son Zak.
2020:
In real estate as well as business it is all about location, location, location. Mr. Verduyn has a knack for both. In 2020, Lloyd decided to build from the ground up and build a shop in Woodstock, ON minutes away from the 403 and 401.
2020:
With four locations across North America the famous Verduyn work ethic holds true. In 2021, Lloyd and Zak implemented new design features to maintain atop the retractable tarp system industry.
Monday November 8th 2021:
That brings us to present day. On a sunny afternoon in early fall, the talented staff of the Woodstock Facility put the final touches on the 300th sliding system built in the newest of the four facilities.
When it comes to business, the terms that often measure success are “profitability” or “efficiency”. While these are important, the numbers and spreadsheets often cloud the tangible milestones that personify the success of an organization.
Here at Verduyn Tarps, days like November 8th are not taken lightly. We continue to celebrate our achievements because they are a constant reminder of the positive contributions we make to the lives of our valued customers.
