Verduyn Tarps’ 2nd Annual Food Drive

HeartFM Food Drive v2

The 35 years of success at Verduyn Tarps has been built on three pillars: Quality, Honesty and Service.

While these elements drive our business, we also practice them in our community. On December 1st our staff proudly launched the 2nd annual Verduyn Food Drive, collecting all non-perishable food items at our Woodstock facility located at 265 Beards Lane.

Last season we spearheaded this Food Drive with the goal of collecting as many donations as we could. While adding a “Verduyn Tarps flair”, we challenged our staff to fill a lumber carrier in our retail store. With our staff jumping on board we were humbled by the amount of non-perishable donations, quickly surpassing our goal.

In hopes to help as many people have a happy holiday season, we have once again partnered with 104.7 Heart FM to achieve our goal. This year we hope to continue the giving spirit and fill an even larger lumber carrier.

In an effort to best serve the Community with Quality donations, we contacted Naomi Dalley, of The Salvation Army Woodstock.

“We always seem to be short on baked beans, or canned pork and beans. We could always have more canned salmon or tuna. Another big one is pasta sauce, we always get lots of noodles but no sauce. Also it’s important to remember lunches, so any Lunchables or anything like that is great for parents.”

Naomi went on to mention that it is not only food that is needed.

“Another thing that many don’t remember is personal hygiene products, or even laundry detergent.”

While these are great suggestions to keep in mind, it is also important to know who you are helping.

“We have Woodstock and much of Oxford County under our umbrella as well as helping to serve Norwich.”

Naomi went on to explain why the “season of giving” really is important at The Salvation Army.

“Winter certainly is a time of need for the less fortunate, in the winter the bills always go up. Heating costs and shelter are a necessity. For the homeless, food becomes less affordable when there isn’t a park bench to sleep on like there would be on a warm summer night.”

Over the last few years we have all experienced some hard times. This year, we call upon you again to help those who are still experiencing hardship and make a donation if you are able to do so. Want to help but can’t make it to our Woodstock facility (located at 265 Beards Lane)? Find a location near you.

From all of us here at Verduyn Tarps we hope you have a safe a happy holiday season!
